How to Remove a Ring That's Stuck on Your Finger

We've all had this happen. You wear a ring for years and years and then one day you decide to take it off and...it's not budging. You try soap, lubricant, hand lotion, elevating your hands so the puffiness is decreased, Crisco...and a hundred other ways. You don't want to cut the ring off, which might end up being your last resort, but try this first. Tourniquet Technique Carefully wrap the finger with a rubber tourniquet, starting from the tip of the finger and working your way up to the ring. Lay on your back and point your arm straight up to the ceiling. After about 5 minutes, lower your arm and immediately remove the tourniquet, apply huge amounts of lubricant and slide the ring off. The extended arm position and the tourniquet temporarily decreases in the finger and provides an opportunity for rapid ring removal. If this doesn't work, remove the ring with cutters, taking care not to injure yourself in the process.
